Job summary

Desian Education are partnering with a welcoming single-form entry mainstream primary school to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for their Year 1 team. The role focuses on providing 1:1 support to a female Year 1 pupil with high-functioning ASD in a nurturing classroom environment.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the pupil access the curriculum and develop self-regulation and independence, while promoting positive peer interactions and engagement.

Qualifications

• Dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 1 classroom.
• Experience with younger pupils and ASD within a mainstream setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to the pupil.
• Help pupil stay focused and engaged during lessons.
• Recognise early signs of dysregulation and apply strategies.
• Support transitions between lessons and routines.
• Encourage independence and reduce dependency on 1:1 support.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO and school staff.
• Support social interaction and engagement with peers.
