Job summary

Johnstons of Elgin is seeking a Yarn Reclaim Operative in Hawick to reclaim, process and prepare yarn for reuse, ensuring accurate identification and availability for production. The role is full-time, 38 hours per week on dayshift, with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour.

Full training will be provided, and prior experience in this area is welcome but not required. The successful candidate will join a team focused on quality, efficiency and sustainability in our historic Scottish mill.

Responsibilities

• Reclaiming yarn by winding back faulty garment panels onto bobbins and cones.
• Transferring yarn from small bobbins to large cones, including splicing yarn where required.
• Labeling cones accurately with yarn quality, shade, batch and location details.
• Weighing completed cones and recording information on daily sheets.
• Storing completed cones in the correct yarn store locations.
• Twisting yarn to correct twist requirements.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Lubricating and waxing cones.
