Johnstons of Elgin in Hawick is hiring a Yarn Reclaim Operative to reclaim, process and prepare yarn for reuse. The role is full-time, 38 hours per week, on dayshift, with a pay rate of £13.45 per hour.

You will reclaim yarn from faulty panels, transfer and label cones, weigh and record data, and maintain accurate documentation while working as part of a collaborative team committed to quality and sustainability. Training is provided.

  • Reclaiming yarn by winding back faulty garment panels onto bobbins and cones.
  • Transferring yarn from small bobbins to large cones, including splicing where required.
  • Labelling cones accurately with yarn quality, shade, batch and location details.
  • Weighing completed cones and recording information on daily sheets.
  • Storing completed cones in the correct yarn store locations.
  • Twisting yarn to correct twist requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Job description

Job Title: Yarn Reclaim Operative

We are looking for a Yarn Reclaim Operative to join our growing team in Hawick to reclaim, process and prepare yarn for reuse, ensuring accurate identification and availability for production.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 38 hours a week on dayshift.

Rate of pay for this role is £13.45 per hour.

Full training will be provided, but if you have experience in this role or something similar, your expertise will be highly valued and welcomed.

  • Reclaiming yarn by winding back faulty garment panels onto bobbins and cones
  • Transferring yarn from small bobbins to large cones, including splicing yarn where required
  • Labelling cones accurately with yarn quality, shade, batch and location details
