Job summary

Jewson, part of Stark UK, is seeking a customer-focused teammate for a full-time position in Ipswich. You will provide outstanding service across yard, counter and shop floor, ensuring customer needs are understood and met with efficiency and care.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, product knowledge, and teamwork within a busy merchant environment, with training provided for forklift tasks and safety.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in customer service is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and ascertain their needs with friendly, proactive service.
• Ask open questions to understand current and future requirements and build relationships.
• Maintain high standards across the yard, counter and shop floor.
• Operate and assist with loading/unloading, pallet handling and stock replenishment.
• Support sales initiatives to increase revenue and customer satisfaction.

This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday 7:30 – 17:00, and every other Saturday from 08:00-12:00.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Acknowledge every customer, ascertain their needs and wow them with quick and efficient service
• Ask open questions to build strong relationships and understand our customers current and future requirements so we can support all their needs
• Maintain excellent standards across the yard, counter and shop floor
• Operate machinery safely and carry out key operational activities such as offloading, picking, packing, restocking and loading vehicles
• Support business initiatives to increase sales, margin & service as required
• Continually develop your knowledge of core and specialist product lines to meet customer needs
• Loading and unloading vehicles both manually and with a forklift (training will be provided)
