Job summary

GRS is seeking a committed Yard Operative at our St Albans site to drive mobile plant and learn bagging equipment. You’ll work in all weather with a motivated team, performing manual duties while maintaining safety and efficiency in bagged aggregate production.

On-site role requires teamwork, reliability and good communication. We offer full training, pension, parking and opportunities for growth in a fast-paced, low-carbon construction materials company.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, compliant & efficient production of bagged aggregates.
• Ensure high standards of health & safety at all times, reporting any issues, accidents and near miss to line manager.
• Work as part of a high performing team to produce bagged aggregates for our customers with focus on quality and production key.
• Operate a forklift truck and loading shovel, depending on site requirement.
• Completion of fixed plant and mobile plant inspections.
• Bag aggregates in a plastic and bulk bag to the required target levels with relevant training given.
• Net and sheet lorries as and when requested by line manager.
• General housekeeping duties as and when requested by line manager.
• Good communication with all drivers, yard operatives and delivery drivers.
• Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.

JOB PURPOSE

A yard operative needs to be willing of driving mobile plant and learning the use of the bagging machines on site. They need to be able to work in all weather conditions and work within a highly motivated team with good communication being fundamental within the role. Manual work is required on a daily basis.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
