Job summary

Gelder Group in Lincoln is seeking a Yard Operator to manage the day-to-day operations of the head office yard. You will maintain a safe, organised environment, ensure equipment is ready for hire, and process returns efficiently.

The role involves assisting drivers, loading vehicles, and handling waste in a busy depot. Previous experience in construction, plant hire or warehouse settings is desirable, with a focus on safety, teamwork and reliable, hard-working conduct.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction, plant hire, warehouse or yard environments.
• Good understanding of safe manual handling practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Good organisational skills and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe and organised yard at all times.
• Assist with loading/unloading vehicles and prepare loads for deliveries.
• Receive returned equipment and store safely for inspection.
• Move and store equipment in designated locations to maximise efficiency.
• Ensure all equipment is clearly labelled and identified.
• Assist with basic workshop duties and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Greet customers and provide courteous service for equipment collection/return.
• Monitor yard security and report hazards or faults promptly.
