Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd. is seeking a motivated Year 1/2 Teacher to join our supportive primary school team in the YO7 Thirsk area for a four-day-per-week role starting November 2026.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons with a focus on phonics, early reading, and progress. QTS is required, and experience in Year 1/Year 2 is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching Year 1/Year 2 or mixed Year 1/2.

Responsibilities

Job description

Year 1/2 Teacher - 4 Days Per Week - November 2026

YO7 Area - Thirsk - £121.50 to £150 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Vision for Education is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Key Stage 1 Teacher to join our successful supply team and work within a welcoming primary school in the YO7 Thirsk area.

This is a four-day-per-week role, working within a Year 1/2 class in an engaging and supportive Key Stage 1 setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, creative, and age-appropriate learning experiences, with a particular focus on phonics, early reading, and supporting pupils to make good progress.

The role will commence in November 2026.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position is Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Previous experience teaching within a Year 1, Year 2, or mixed Year 1/2 setting is highly desirable.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive and experienced teaching team, the desired Year 1/2 Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging learning opportunities that meet the needs of all pupils.

Responsibilities may include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, creative, and age-appropriate lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
• Teaching a mixed Year 1/2 class, adapting learning to meet the needs and abilities of pupils across both year groups.
• Delivering high-quality phonics teaching and ensuring pupils develop secure phonics knowledge and skills.
• Providing effective early reading provision to support pupils in developing fluency, accuracy, comprehension, and a love of reading.
• Assessing pupils' learning regularly and using this information to adapt teaching and provision.
• Identifying gaps in learning and implementing appropriate strategies to support pupils in making good progress.
• Creating a safe, inclusive, stimulating, and supportive classroom environment.
• Differentiating learning activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils.
• Supporting pupils' development across all areas of the curriculum, including literacy and numeracy.
• Observing, assessing, and recording pupils' progress and development.
