Role description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fluid Power Technical Tutor to deliver engaging training in hydraulics, pneumatics and associated maintenance technologies to apprentices and adult learners.

Responsibilities

The Role

As a Fluid Power Technical Tutor, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and assessing apprenticeship standards, technical qualifications and commercial training programmes. You will support learners in developing the practical skills, technical knowledge and behaviours required to work safely and effectively with hydraulic and pneumatic systems across a range of engineering and manufacturing environments.

Working within workshop settings, you will create engaging learning experiences that develop learner competence in fluid power principles and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality practical training in fluid power
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assignments and assessment activities that meet awarding body and customer requirements.
  • Produce learning resources, practical exercises and reference materials to support learner development.
  • Deliver training in fluid power subjects such as hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment that motivates learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Assess learner competence through a variety of assessment methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Monitor learner progress, identify learners requiring additional support and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Produce learner progress reports and maintain accurate learner records in accordance with centre procedures.
  • Ensure teaching, learning and assessment activities comply with Ofsted, awarding body and apprenticeship standard requirements.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of learner behaviour, professionalism and attendance.
  • Ensure health and safety is embedded within all workshop activities
  • Maintain and continuously improve fluid power training equipment, resources and workshop facilities.
Requirements
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Fluid Power, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • City & Guilds Part 3, Technical Certificate, National Certificate, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Level 3 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Recent industrial experience within manufacturing, maintenance, process, automation or engineering environments.
  • Strong practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and gain the respect of apprentices and adult learners.
  • A1 Assessor Award.
  • V1/Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
