Job summary

In-Comm Training & Business Services is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Fluid Power) to join the Training Operations team as a dual role: hands-on engineering with teaching, coaching, and assessment.

You will bring hydraulics and pneumatics expertise, deliver engaging sessions, assess learners, and help shape the next generation of engineers while pursuing teaching or assessing qualifications; training towards AET/CAVA is funded.

Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering
  • GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • Proven industry experience as a maintenance engineer with strong, practical knowledge of fluid power systems — hydraulics and pneumatics — including pumps, valves, actuators, compressors, and control systems
  • Experience of fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical and fluid systems
  • The ability to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging theoretical and practical training sessions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support learners at all levels
  • Good record-keeping, organisational skills, and a commitment to quality and compliance
  • A teaching qualification (e.g. AET) or assessing qualification (e.g. CAVA) is desirable — training towards these is available and fully funded for the right candidate
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automated systems, or current fluid power technologies would be a welcome advantage
