Job summary

Holt Recruitment Ltd is advertising on behalf of a family-run asphalt company to find a skilled Plant / HGV Engineer for the Witham area. The role is workshop-based with a focus on maintenance, servicing and repairs across plant, HGVs and related equipment.

You will perform fault-finding, welding and fabrication, with occasional fieldwork and support to keep the fleet reliable. Salary starts from £20+ per hour DOE, with a friendly, long‑standing team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working on plant, HGVs or similar heavy equipment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and practical repair skills.
• Welding/fabrication experience would be highly beneficial.
• HGV Licence desirable but not essential.
• A reliable, hands-on engineer who enjoys working on a variety of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Primarily workshop-based, maintaining a varied range of plant, HGVs and equipment
• Routine servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
• Fault-finding and diagnostics
• Welding and fabrication work
• Working on a variety of machinery and equipment, making this a genuinely varied role
• Occasional work outside of the workshop when required
• Supporting the day-to-day running and reliability of the company’s fleet
