Job summary

Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD are recruiting an experienced Heavy Plant Engineer to join a family‑run plant business in Redditch. The role offers a balanced mix of workshop and on‑site work, with long‑term stability and a supportive team.

You will service, diagnose and repair heavy plant equipment, both on-site and in the workshop, with ongoing manufacturer training and a performance‑based bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Experience as a Heavy Plant Engineer working on construction or heavy plant equipment.
• Full UK Driving Licence and ability to work independently on-site and in the workshop.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy plant machinery.
• Attend customer sites to diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs.
• Complete workshop-based repairs, servicing and major component replacements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and engine faults.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Complete service reports and paperwork accurately.
• Work effectively as part of a small, experienced engineering team.

Our client is a well-established, family‑run plant business based in Redditch, specialising in the maintenance and hire of heavy plant equipment. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Heavy Plant Engineer to join their team. This is a varied role offering a 50/50 split between workshop and mobile work, providing excellent variety and long‑term career stability within a friendly and supportive environment.

Role Overview

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.
• Attend customer sites to diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs.
• Complete workshop‑based repairs, servicing, and major component replacements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Complete service reports and associated paperwork accurately.
• Work effectively as part of a small, experienced engineering team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Previous experience working as a Heavy Plant Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
• Experience working on construction or heavy plant equipment.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to work independently on‑site and within the workshop.

Salary & Benefits

• £19.00-£20.00 per hour, with higher rates available depending on experience.
• Monday‑Friday: 7:00am - 6:00pm.
• Every other Saturday: 7:00am - 1:00pm.
• 50/50 split between workshop and mobile work.
