Job summary

Northgate Vehicle Hire is seeking a Workshop Manager to oversee a busy workshop and lead a skilled team in delivering high-quality maintenance across our fleet.

With a strong focus on customer service, you will apply your Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds in Light Maintenance, coach staff, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and performance.

Qualifications

• Qualified technical expert with Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds in Light Maintenance.
• Solid workshop management background with people leadership.
• Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the workshop team to maximise efficiency and output.
• Provide expert technical guidance and drive quality in maintenance work.
• Resolve issues with customers and suppliers to maintain high service levels.

At heart, you are a qualified technical expert (level 3 NVQ or City and Guilds in Light Maintenance) with a solid workshop management background - your team value your expert technical knowledge, input and guidance.
You have a common-sense business approach - you know what makes a great workshop and how to maximise efficiencies and opportunities to produce outstanding results.
Above all, you are a people person with some management experience - you care about your team and understand that a one-size-fits-all approach is not always the best way to create a high-performing workshop team.
You are a natural coach and love to share your knowledge with others - nothing gives you more job satisfaction than seeing a colleague you have supported doing well.
You have a passion for customer service - you understand what is important to your customers and suppliers. If there is an issue, as Workshop Manager, you will know just how to solve it.
