Job summary

Workshop HGV Engineer position available with a prestige client. This permanent, day-shift role offers a basic salary up to £46,500 plus overtime and fabulous benefits.

The successful candidate will be a qualified HGV technician with a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics and a drive to deliver first-class service. You will work on a varied fleet including main dealer heavy goods vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, trailers and light commercials,

Qualifications

• Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics will help in this role.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out inspections on a varied and diverse fleet (HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, trailers, etc.).
• Routine maintenance and preventative maintenance.
• MOT preparation and scheduled servicing to DVSA standards.
• Chassis and fabrication work, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections.

We are looking for a qualified and time served HGV Technicianwho can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first class service.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV#s) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to)

• Routine (and preventative) maintenance

• MOT preparation

• Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards

• 6 (or 8) weekly inspections

• Correction of running defects

• Chassis and fabrication work

• Hydraulics and pneumatics

• Improvement of vehicle standards

• Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 or licence.
