Job summary

Kautec Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Fleet Technician for the Vehicle Management Unit in Thurrock, UK. The role involves inspecting and maintaining a diverse fleet, from HGVs to road sweepers and trailers, across standard schedules and defect corrections.

Ideal candidates will be fully qualified (City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent) with IRTEC desirable and a possible HGV Class 1 licence. On-site work, Monday–Friday days, good attitude and service mindset emphasized.

Qualifications

• Qualified and time served HGV technician with thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.
• IRTEC accreditation is desirable for progression and mastery.
• City & Guilds / NVQ or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance and servicing of a varied fleet including main dealer heavy goods vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, and trailers.
• MOT preparation and DVSA standard servicing schedules.
• 6 or 8 weekly inspections and defect correction to ensure roadworthiness.
• Chassis, fabrication, hydraulics and pneumatics work, plus electrical/wiring inspections and corrections.

Workshop Fleet Technician

Vehicle Management Unit - Monday to Friday (days)

We are looking for a qualified and time served HGV Technicianwho can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.

You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained however is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first class service.

You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.

You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGV#s) refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, light commercials (vans), trailers and tippers-

• Routine (and preventative) maintenance
• MOT preparation
• Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
• 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
• Correction of running defects
• Chassis and fabrication work
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Improvement of vehicle standards
• Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent.

Additional accreditations such as IRTEC would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 or licence.
