Job summary

Dawsongroup EMC provides specialist assets to customers across environmental, municipal and civil sectors. We are seeking a Workshop Engineer to maintain our fleet of municipal vehicles, road sweepers and other commercial equipment, ensuring safety, compliance and readiness.

You will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, complete repairs and support MOT preparation, while keeping precise maintenance records and collaborating with workshop colleagues to keep operations moving.

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on engineering experience in HGV, commercial vehicle, plant, municipal, or similar environments.
• Experience diagnosing faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
• Ability to maintain safe working practices and accurate maintenance records.
• Mechanical or engineering qualification plus PMI/inspection/MOT prep experience is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence and collaborative workshop mindset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs across the specialist fleet.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using diagnostic equipment and information.
• Complete repairs and identify additional defects, escalating safety-critical issues when appropriate.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections, supporting movements to testing facilities.
• Keep accurate maintenance records of defects, repairs, parts used and work completed.
