VANRATH is recruiting a Workshop Controller/Manager for a Belfast service operation. You will run a busy depot workshop, plan jobs, maximise technician efficiency, and ensure high standards of quality and health and safety. A full driving licence and strong knowledge of vans/LCVs are essential.

• Run the depot workshop day to day and keep operations moving smoothly.
• Plan, allocate and execute jobs around technician capabilities.
• Maximise staff utilisation and sold hours for productivity.
• Organise workshop space for maximum efficiency.
• Manage holiday and sickness cover to keep schedules on track.
• Coordinate with parts to ensure timely availability of parts.
• Coach technicians and apprentices and liaise with training for courses.
• Ensure all vehicles are road tested as required.
• Carry out quality checks to keep work right first time.
• Ensure signed off job cards have full, accurate information.

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a leading Northern Ireland vehicle dealership on the appointment of a Workshop Controller/Manager for their Belfast service operation. This is a great opportunity to take the reins of a busy van and light commercial workshop within an established, high volume business.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Run the depot workshop day to day, keeping everything moving smoothly
• Plan, allocate and execute jobs around technician capabilities
• Keep productivity high by maximising staff utilisation and sold hours
• Organise workshop space for maximum efficiency
• Manage holiday and sickness cover so scheduled work stays on track
• Work closely with the parts department to keep the right parts available on time
• Coach technicians and apprentices to build their skills, and liaise with the training department to keep them available for courses
• Make sure all vehicles are road tested as required
• Carry out quality checks to keep service, repair and MOT work "right first time"
• Check completed job cards are signed off with full, accurate information
• Make sure all defects are reported to the customer with quotes provided
• Challenge technicians on efficiency, sold hours, lost time and vehicle cleanliness
• Report any maintenance issues within the workshop
• Uphold all health and safety regulations and procedures, in line with legal and company requirements
• Ad hoc duties as directed by the Dealerpoint Manager or Directors
