Job summary

Kemp Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Controller based at a Bristol depot to join a well-established fleet maintenance company. This full-time, permanent role offers a £40,000 salary, working 7.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, with 26 days holiday plus bank holidays and good career progression opportunities.

Responsibilities include scheduling servicing and maintenance across a commercial vehicle fleet, allocating work to technicians, managing defects and breakdowns, coordinating roadside

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet maintenance or commercial vehicle workshop environments.
• Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of DVSA compliance and Operator Licence requirements.
• Experience with fleet management systems and related software.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across a fleet.
• Allocate work to workshop and mobile technicians to maximise productivity.
• Manage vehicle defects, breakdowns and repair requests; coordinate roadside assistance.
• Monitor PMI, MOTs and statutory inspections; ensure timely completion.
• Source parts and liaise with suppliers; maintain fleet records and reports.

Workshop Controller opportunity

My client, a well-established fleet maintenance company with depots across the UK is actively seeing to employ a new Workshop Controller to be based out of a depot in Bristol to work on a full-time permanent basis. Excellent ongoing training and career progression opportunities as company are expanding. No weekend working or shift work required. Happy to look at a technician looking to move off the tools

Workshop Controller duties

• Schedule and coordinate servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across a commercial vehicle fleet.
• Allocate work to workshop and mobile technicians to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
• Manage vehicle defects, breakdowns and repair requests, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
• Coordinate roadside assistance, recovery providers and external suppliers when required.
• Monitor fleet compliance, ensuring PMIs, MOTs and statutory inspections are completed on time.
• Source and order parts, liaising with suppliers to ensure availability and cost-effective purchasing.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and fleet management systems.
• Produce fleet availability, VOR and maintenance reports for management.
• Communicate repair progress and vehicle availability updates to customers and operational teams.
• Previous experience within a fleet maintenance, workshop, transport or commercial vehicle environment.
• Strong planning, scheduling and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and compliance requirements.
• Experience using workshop or fleet management systems.
• Knowledge of Operator Licence and DVSA compliance requirements.
• Transport, logistics, rental or fleet industry experience.
