Job summary

Consult2Recruit in Avonmouth is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to coordinate the day-to-day workshop and fleet maintenance operation, ensuring vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently and in line with compliance requirements.

The role involves planning and scheduling maintenance, allocating work to Workshop and Mobile Technicians, monitoring workload and repair progress, managing VOR activity, and ensuring PMI and MOT preparations are completed on time.

Qualifications

• Experience in workshop, fleet maintenance or transport environment.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Understanding of fleet compliance and roadworthiness.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule maintenance, servicing, inspections and repairs.
• Allocate work to Workshop and Mobile Technicians.
• Monitor workshop workload, productivity and repair progress.
• Coordinate vehicle defects, breakdowns and recovery where required.
• Manage Vehicle Off Road (VOR) activity and minimise downtime.
• Ensure PMIs, MOT preparations and statutory inspections are completed on time.
• Maintain accurate workshop and fleet records and ensure compliance with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements.
• Source parts and liaise with suppliers to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
• Monitor maintenance costs and support cost-control initiatives.
• Produce daily workshop, fleet availability and maintenance reports.
• Communicate repair progress and vehicle availability to operational teams and customers.
• Promote a strong health & safety and compliance culture within the workshop.

About the Role

About You

• Previous experience in a workshop, fleet maintenance or transport environment.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
• Good understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of fleet compliance and roadworthiness requirements.
• Full UK Driving Licence
