Workshop Controller Role

As our Workshop Controller, you will be integral to the continued success of our After Sales Service Department. Your responsibilities include ensuring quality control and compliance in the workshop, assigning tasks to technicians, and monitoring progress to ensure work is completed according to manufacturer guidelines and industry regulations, all while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring high standards of work
  2. Manage and motivate technicians, providing clear instructions
  3. Administer technicians' clockings daily
  4. Allocate work effectively to balance productivity and quality
  5. Raise estimates as required
  6. Plan, schedule, and supervise workflow for efficiency
  7. Monitor job progress and ensure timely vehicle delivery
  8. Liaise with service advisors, parts departments, and customers
  9. Drive workshop performance, efficiency, and profitability
  10. Utilize resources to maximize financial and operational performance
  11. Provide cover for the Workshop Supervisor when needed
Administrative Duties
  1. Review completed workshop job cards for accuracy
  2. Manage and maintain vehicle files
  3. Collect and address customer feedback and complaints
  4. Maintain service records, warranties, and customer history
  5. Generate reports on performance, warranty claims, and customer metrics
Team Leadership and Communication
  1. Lead, coach, and develop the workshop team
  2. Ensure effective communication between workshop and front-of-house teams
  3. Support workshop planning and work towards KPIs
  4. Promote a high-performance team culture with excellent customer service
Compliance and Quality Assurance
  1. Conduct quality audits of technicians' work
  2. Maintain health and safety standards
  3. Update and coordinate VOR records (including Internal / Isuzu / customers)
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in the automotive industry, particularly in workshop control or as a technician
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in IT
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both face-to-face and via email
  • Motivated and capable of motivating others
  • Ability to work under pressure
