Job summary

Our client in Alperton, HA0 is seeking a Workshop Controller to lead the day‑to‑day workshop operations. You will allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure high standards of quality and customer satisfaction while guiding the technical team.

The role requires hands‑on leadership in a fast‑paced environment, with 2 years' experience and a Level 3 qualification preferred. 45 hours per week, full‑time, with a basic salary up to £40,000 plus bonus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Workshop Controller or similar role.
  • Qualified technician with Level 3 preferred.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent organisation and administration abilities.
  • Proficient with workshop IT systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate work to technicians to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Monitor workshop performance and achieve targets and KPIs.

  • Liaise with Service Advisors for clear customer communication.
  • Provide technical support to colleagues and customers as needed.

Our client is a growing and forward‑thinking automotive business, delivering an ever‑expanding range of services across electric vehicles, fleet, and mobile servicing. With a strong focus on customer experience and innovation, they are now looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to join their team in Alperton, HA0.

The Role

Reporting to the Aftersales Manager, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day control of the workshop, ensuring work is allocated efficiently, productivity targets are met, and high standards of quality and customer satisfaction are consistently achieved.

You will play a key role in leading, motivating, and supporting the technical team, while ensuring smooth workflow and clear communication between departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Allocate work to technicians to maximise efficiency and productivity
  • Monitor workshop performance and ensure targets and KPIs are achieved
  • Track vehicle progress through the workshop to ensure timely completion.
  • Liaise with Service Advisors to maintain excellent customer communication
  • Provide technical support to colleagues and customers where required
  • Ensure all work is planned, scheduled, and managed effectively
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, compliance, and health & safety
  • Manage stock control and workshop systems
  • Coach, motivate, and develop the workshop team
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Workshop Controller or similar role
  • Previous experience as a qualified technician (Level 3 preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills
  • Strong IT skills and experience with workshop systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus
  • Good understanding of workshop financial performance and profitability
  • Full UK driving licence (max 9 penalty points)
