Job summary

DXC Technology is seeking a Workplace Deployment Engineer to join our onsite team in Yeovil. You will prepare, configure and deploy desktops, laptops and VDI devices, support smartphones, and collaborate with the onsite 2nd line team to broaden your end-user support skills.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with potential overtime/on-call. You must be eligible for UK government security requirements and right to work in the United Kingdom. Travel within the area may be required.

Qualifications

  • Windows 10/11 deployment, configuration and support.
  • Office 2016 onwards support.
  • Basic SCCM and OS/Application deployment knowledge.
  • Clear verbal communication across levels.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Able to work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy desktops, laptops and VDI devices to end users.
  • Install and deploy software and applications.
  • Manage asset and peripheral deployments.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate issues.
  • Work with onsite 2nd line and end-user support teams.
  • Install/upgrade hardware for desktop, laptop, and server.
  • Deploy smartphones (Android & iOS).
  • Provide VIP support and assist with customer projects.
  • Occasional travel within the area; cover leaves as needed.

Job Description: Help keep technology moving in a secure environment At DXC Technology, we support some of the UK's most important and security-sensitive organisations, and we're looking for a Workplace Deployment Engineer to join our team onsite in Yeovil. This is a hands‑on role where you'll play an important part in making sure our client's people have the technology they need to do their jobs. You'll be responsible for preparing, configuring and deploying desktops, laptops and VDI devices, as well as supporting smartphones and helping with wider IT projects. You'll work closely with the onsite 2nd Line support team, so there will also be opportunities to build your wider technical knowledge across desktop, VDI and end‑user support. This is a full‑time, position working a 37.5‑hour week Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be required to have a flexible approach as overtime and on‑call duties may be required. Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Someroles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.

  • Work as part of a support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls
  • Hardware installation / upgrade / break fix for desktop, laptop, and server

  • Occasional travel required around the area to help cover
  • Leave at sites (within a 2hr travel)
What we're looking for
  • Microsoft Windows 10, and 11 Operating Systems – Deployment, configuration, and support
  • Support Microsoft Office 2016 onwards
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / Application deployment
  • Good verbal communication with an ability to communicate to all levels
  • Good written communication: concise and accurate call logging, documentation, and email correspondence
  • Good time management / organisational skills
  • Work well as part of a team or independently
Desirable skills / qualifications
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and / or 11 training, certification, and experience
  • Active Directory administration
  • Understanding of Microsoft SCCM
  • Experience of Microsoft Entra
  • Experience of Trellix EPO and client‑side agents
  • Experience of client‑side Wi‑Fi configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience of Windows Security configuration
  • Experience of client encryption and VPN - Trellix, BitLocker, Cisco, F5 and Zscaler
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Willing to learn new skills and technologies
  • Clean full driving license
