Job summary

DXC Technology Inc. is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer for on-site work in Yeovil. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with potential overtime and on-call duties. The candidate must be prepared to obtain SC Security Clearance.

You will build/deploy desktops, laptops, and VDI environments, install software, and support end users, devices, and VIPs. Travel within the area may be required.

Qualifications

• Windows 10/11 deployment, configuration and support.
• Office 2016+ deployment and support.
• Proven deskside hardware/software troubleshooting experience.
• Knowledge of SCCM OS/App deployment and AD management.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to log calls clearly.

Responsibilities

• Build/deploy desktops, laptops, and VDI to end users.
• Install and deploy software and updates.
• Manage assets and peripherals at sites.
• Investigate issues in depth and resolve promptly.
• Support laptop/desktop/VDI users as part of a team.
• Install/upgrade hardware for desktop, laptop, and server.
• Provide smartphone support (Android & iOS) and VIP support.
• Assist with customer projects and travel within area (2h).

We are currently looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to support one of our clients based on-site in Yeovil.

This is a full-time, position working a 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be required to have a flexible approach as overtime and on-call duties may be required.

Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate will need to obtain SC Security Clearance.

Responsibilities:

• Desktop / Laptop / VDI build, configuration, deployment to end users
• Software installation / deployment
• Asset and peripheral deployments
• In depth investigation into issues
• Work as part of a support team with laptop, desktop and VDI terminals support calls
• Hardware installation / upgrade / break fix for desktop, laptop, and server
• Smartphone support (Android & iOS)
• VIP support
• Assisting with customer projects
• Occasional travel required around the area to help cover Leave at sites (within a 2hr travel)

What we're looking for:

• Microsoft Windows 10, and 11 Operating Systems - Deployment, configuration, and support
• Support Microsoft Office 2016 onwards
• Proven and demonstrable software and hardware troubleshooting skills, experience in a Deskside Support role
• Knowledge of Microsoft SCCM and OS / Application deployment
• Good verbal communication with an ability to communicate to all levels
• Good written communication: concise and accurate call logging, documentation, and email correspondence
• Good time management / organisational skills
• Work well as part of a team or independently

Desirable skills / qualifications:

• Microsoft Windows 10 and / or 11 training, certification, and experience
• Legacy Operating Systems
• Active Directory management
• Understanding of Microsoft SCCM
• Experience of Microsoft Entra
• Experience of Trellix EPO and client-side agents
• Experience of client-side Wi-Fi configuration and troubleshooting
• Experience of Windows Security configuration
• Experience of client encryption and VPN - Trellix, BitLocker, Cisco, F5 and Zscaler
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Willing to learn new skills and technologies
• Clean full driving license
