Mitchells & Butlers plc is hiring a Night Porter to join our Exeter hospitality team. This is an overnight role with shifts typically from 11pm to 7am, focusing on delivering a warm welcome, guest safety and smooth operations across front-of-house areas.

You’ll be the first point of contact for late arrivals, handle guest inquiries, support cleaning tasks where needed, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

• Be first contact for late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Provide warm, friendly welcome to guests.
• Assist with front-of-house cleaning and breakfast areas.
• Set up meeting rooms and breakfast for the next day.
• Maintain guest and business safety and security.
• In case of fire, evacuate guests and staff safely.
• Answer calls and handle guest inquiries to ensure a great stay.

This is an overnight position, with shifts typically ranging from 11pm to 7am (depending on the site).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS ROLE:

• Be the first point of contact when checking in late arrivals and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• The role is varied and, depending on your site, may include: cleaning tasks within the front of house, external and breakfast areas, setting up the meeting room(s) and breakfast for the next day
• You’ll ensure guest and business safety and security is top priority at all times.
• In the event of a fire, evacuating all guests and team from the business safely and quickly
• Answer telephone enquiries and deal with guest complaints to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.
