Job summary

Majestic Wine Winchester is seeking a dynamic Trainee Manager for a 12‑month development programme to build expertise across operations, service and leadership. You will work with the Store Manager to prepare for future store management responsibilities.

The role focuses on driving store performance, delivering outstanding customer service, learning product knowledge including WSET levels, and supporting day‑to‑day store operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced, target-driven retail or hospitality environments.
• Ability to deliver exceptional customer experience to every customer.
• Capable of prioritising and solving problems under pressure.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team.
• Can-do attitude with enthusiasm for solving issues.
• Adaptable and resilient to changing business needs.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Wine knowledge is beneficial with a willingness to learn more and pass WSET levels.
• Hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months with ≤6 penalty points.

Responsibilities

• Drive store performance by maximising sales opportunities and improving KPIs.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to drive loyalty and repeat purchases.
• Provide VIP concierge-style updates to customers about products and tastings.
• Sell the story, share passion, manage tasting events and counter experience.
• Continuously learn wine knowledge to support WSET qualifications.
• Maintain store appearance and ensure compliance with policies.
• Assist with day-to-day operations, including deliveries, merchandising and calls.
• Identify improvements to optimise store operations.
