Job summary

CFH Docmail is seeking IT contractors in Radstock, United Kingdom, to migrate our Windows Server estate from 2016 to 2025. You will join our internal infrastructure team for up to six months, providing access, local knowledge and change management support to move the estate to a supported platform.

The project covers roughly 150 virtual servers running on VMware, hosting Active Directory, file and print, web and business applications.

Qualifications

Right to work in the UK; site attendance in Radstock or Livingston.
Strong background with Windows Server in a business environment.
Hands-on Windows Server 2025 experience with new features and deprecated components.
Experience with VMware vSphere.
Understanding of server hardening, patching and backup/restore.
Ability to follow strict change management processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication; explain tech to non-technical audiences.
Microsoft Windows Server certifications.
Experience with mass server migration projects.

Responsibilities

Audit existing Windows Server 2016 instances, roles, features, apps and dependencies.
Build replacement Windows Server 2025 servers from baseline templates.
Migrate file servers, shares and permissions using Storage Migration Service or equivalent.
Migrate internal services and other infrastructure roles.
Collaborate with application owners to test and migrate business applications.
Follow change control processes and provide out-of-hours cutover support.
Decommission legacy servers securely after migration sign-off.
