Job summary

CFH Docmail is seeking IT contractors in Radstock, United Kingdom, to migrate our Windows Server estate from 2016 to 2025. You will join our internal infrastructure team for up to six months, providing access, local knowledge and change management support to move the estate to a supported platform.

The project covers roughly 150 virtual servers running on VMware, hosting Active Directory, file and print, web and business applications.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK; site attendance in Radstock or Livingston.
• Strong background with Windows Server in a business environment.
• Hands-on Windows Server 2025 experience with new features and deprecated components.
• Experience with VMware vSphere.
• Understanding of server hardening, patching and backup/restore.
• Ability to follow strict change management processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; explain tech to non-technical audiences.
• Microsoft Windows Server certifications.
• Experience with mass server migration projects.

Responsibilities

• Audit existing Windows Server 2016 instances, roles, features, apps and dependencies.
• Build replacement Windows Server 2025 servers from baseline templates.
• Migrate file servers, shares and permissions using Storage Migration Service or equivalent.
• Migrate internal services and other infrastructure roles.
• Collaborate with application owners to test and migrate business applications.
• Follow change control processes and provide out-of-hours cutover support.
• Decommission legacy servers securely after migration sign-off.

Job Description

We are a well established printing business with 3 sites across Radstock (Somerset_, Livingston (Glasgow) and Windsor

With Microsoft Server 2016 shortly ending its extended support, we are seeking a couple of contractors either on a self employed or fixed term basis to work for up to 6 months alongside our internal infrastructure team, who will provide access, local knowledge and change management support to move our estate to a supported platform.

Theproject covers roughly 150 virtual servers running on VMware, hosting ActiveDirectory, file and print, web and business applications.

Main Objectives of this work will be:

• Audit the existing Windows Server 2016 instances, identifying roles, features, applications and dependancies
  
• Build replacement Windows Server 2025 servers from baseline templates and ensure configurations meet company standard build specifications
  
• Migrate file servers, shares and permissions using Storage Migration Service or equivalent tools
  
• Migrate internal services and other infrastructure roles
  
• Work with application owners to test and migrate business applications
  
• Follow company change control processes, raising chang requests and provide out-of-hours cutover support where required
  
• Decommission legacy servers securely, following documented processes, once migration is signed off
  

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK - these roles do not offer sponsorship visas and there will be a requirement that some site based work/attendance will be required either in Radstock or Livingston
  
• Strong background working withWindows Server in a business environment
  
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2025 including new featuers and deprecated components
  
• Experience with VMware vSphere
  
• Sound understanding of server hardening, patching anf backup/restore
  
• Work within strict change management processes
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences
  
• Microsoft certifications in Windows Server
  
• Experience of mass server migration projects.
