Job summary

Advanced Resource Managers Ltd is seeking a Windows Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Stevenage. The role focuses on operating BAU support across restricted Windows environments, with emphasis on security, patching, and incident resolution.

You will work within a Defence/Aerospace context, handling Tier 2/3 support, change management, documentation, and monitoring to ensure SLA compliance and secure, reliable systems.

Qualifications

• Active high-level MOD security clearance required.
• Extensive hands-on Windows engineering across Infrastructure & Workplace.
• Experience with Windows Server, Windows OS, and desktop applications.
• Knowledge of networking principles and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational BAU support, administration & configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance and patching across Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks.
• Access and implement changes to the restricted Windows Environment.
• Create, maintain and audit inventory information and asset registers.
• Create and maintain comprehensive, high-quality documentation.
• Create and maintain standard problem resolution & fix documentation.
• Resolve incidents related to Windows Services across restricted secret & above networks in line with SLAs.

As the Windows Engineer, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry.

You will be involved in:

• Provide operational BAU support, administration & configuration management across Infrastructure and Workplace Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks
• Planning & coordinating maintenance and patching across the Windows Environments in restricted secret & above networks
• Access & implement changes to the restricted Windows Environment
• Creation, maintenance & audit of inventory information and asset registers
• Creation, maintenance & review of comprehensive, high-quality documentation
• Creation & maintenance of standard problem resolution & fix documentation
• Responsible for resolution of incidents related to Windows Services across restricted secret & above networks in line with agreed SLAs, following escalation processes as appropriate
• Acting as Tier 2 / Tier 3 support for Windows related issues & problem resolution, performing incident response, investigation & remediation within SLA timeframes
• Coordinate with incident & Technical managers, following incident management process during high-severity incidents
• Identify underlying root causes of reoccurring incidents, assisting in implementation of long-term solutions
• Actively participate in lessons learned activities, conducting thorough root cause analysis, and documenting findings, as part of continuous improvement cycle
• Responsible for ensuring update and closure of all incidents & requests assigned to team queue in accordance to SLA
• Support with monitoring and alerting across restricted secret & above networks
• Responding proactively to alerts & implementing threshold and health-based remediation actions
• Monitor and optimise network/server performance, security, and backups
• Ensure compliance with security guidance and best practice in line with adopted security postures
• Interface with agreed 3rd party service providers for assistance & technical support, troubleshooting, and network management, and also to provide technical guidance to the 3rd party suppliers

Your skillset may include:

• Active high-level MOD security clearance
• Experienced Windows Engineer with the ability to work comfortably across both Infrastructure & Workplace
• Hands-on skills & in-depth expertise across Windows Server, Windows OS, and Desktop Applications, Virtualisation Platforms including VDI, Storage Solutions, AD & Access Management
• Knowledge of networking principles and troubleshooting skills
