Job Summary
You will thrive working with the latest turbine technology, working in the challenging environment of onshore operations and will drive process and rigor as we develop our operations and service teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide on site technical direction, hands on service and leadership during maintenance and servicing activities at customer owned facilities.
- Prepare job planning documents that define the scope of work to be performed through engineering instructions, drawings, and process instructions.
- Communicate effectively with Management and colleagues utilizing customers' CTQs (Critical to Quality needs) in job planning and execution.
- Work independently on the implementation of fault analyses and repair of wind turbine generator systems in the UK, including clarification of any client queries.
- Document call‑out responses, fault finding and repair work in service reports, logbooks and checklists.
- Coordinate external and internal service providers and contractors on site.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and mindset to ensure all executed work reflects GE and customer technical and EHS requirements.
- Be willing to work and fulfil on‑call obligations for out of normal working hours if required (e.g. weekend working).
- Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets and expense sheets in a thorough, complete and timely basis.
Qualifications
- Appropriately qualified Electrical / Mechanical Fitter or Electrical Technician / Technologist or Electrician / Electrical Fitter – nationally recognised diploma or certificate.
- Experience with electrical test equipment and testing procedures.
- High degree of quality awareness; excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills combined with the ability to detect and remedy faults, defects, problems.
- Fit and able to work at heights.
- Structured worker with technical analytical abilities.
- Computer literate – knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
- Prepared to travel throughout the UK and Europe on occasion, including for training requirements.
- Excellent English speaking, reading and writing skills.
- Valid national driver's licence.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience in leading field service team.
- Previous experience working on GE Turbines.
- Advanced computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Access.
- Basic Workplace First Aid.
Location
Applicants should be located within an approximately 1 hour commute from site locations – Chelveston/Kettering can be considered as initial staging location.
