Job description

Would you like to be at the forefront of building our in house greenfield portfolio of wind, solar, BESS and hydrogen projects? Then come and join us!

European Energy is a green energy company experiencing exponential growth. We develop, construct, and operate wind and solar PV projects globally and are at the forefront of the emerging green Hydrogen/Power-to-X sectors. Our core values are the foundation of everything we do: In it together, Trust and Courage, Ambition, Excitement, Inclusion, and Agility.

Your New Team

You will be joining European Energy UK Limited, consisting of 21 colleagues working principally from our office in Glasgow. We are a committed and motivated team where knowledge sharing, trust, and open dialogues describe the very core of our collaboration. You will have various interfaces with the other teams in the business, have numerous opportunities to define your role, and grow as a professional.

Your New Role

European Energy has been focused on the development of utility scale solar projects in the UK to date. Now with a strong pipeline of projects to build over the coming 3-5 years, we would like to significantly expand our wind and hydrogen activities. This creates an opportunity to join European Energy UK Limited as a Wind and Solar Development Manager reporting directly to the company’s Development Director. You will have a broad and varied range of responsibilities, from supporting our origination and grid managers to securing new opportunities, to leading project development activities for a range of technologies through to the ready-to-build (RTB) stage.

We see projects through, and after consent has been achieved, your role will encompass planning condition discharge, identifying project risks and supporting our in-house Engineering and Construction teams during the pre-construction and construction phases to ensure that projects are delivered according to planning consent until successful handover to our Asset Management team.

The ideal candidate will have a track record in UK-based renewable energy project development and be able to manage stakeholders, driving forward all development activity and successfully navigating the consenting phase.

Areas of Responsibilities

  1. QHSE – Support and contribute to a strong culture of safety; prioritize quality, health, safety & environment; ensure our QHSE values flow through all aspects of project identification and development.
  2. Initiation – Define scope and objectives of the project to ensure successful outcomes.
  3. Business case – Develop financial models, create budgets, produce investment appraisals; identify project success criteria and present these to the country manager to achieve a financial investment decision.
  4. Planning – Manage projects from their earliest development stage, and create relevant project plans to ensure sufficient resource allocation and scheduling details.
  5. Risk Management – Identify, monitor, assess, and manage all risks and issues with clear reporting, communication, and prioritization.
  6. Negotiation – Engage with various stakeholders and negotiate land agreements, leases, access, and cable easements.
  7. Handover – Plan the transition into the construction phase well in advance, working closely with European Energy’s EPC department to prepare for a comprehensive handover.

Your Profile

  1. You have a relevant bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Land, Property, Planning, or a related Environmental discipline.
  2. You have +2 years of relevant experience within renewable energy or infrastructure projects.
  3. You have experience in negotiating land agreements and planning energy processes.
  4. Development experience of wind/hydrogen projects is an advantage.
  5. You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
  6. You have a valid driving license.
  7. You are proactive, diligent, and have a high work ethic.
  8. You can balance quality in the context of time & cost pressure.

We Offer

  1. A competitive package and benefits including 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and a cash back health plan for you and the family.
  2. Salary sacrifice EV lease and pension scheme.
  3. A collaborative, inclusive, diverse, and supportive culture where you can grow, develop, and contribute to a profitable, growing, and successful global group.
  4. An entrepreneurial and agile approach to our work. In daily life, it means it is not far from thought to action, and when you are given a mandate, we trust in your abilities.
  5. A shared vision for the green transition, and what we do as a company, we do together.
  6. Remote work options and flexible working hours.
  7. Social events, network opportunities, and a yearly company trip where we connect, socialize, and promote an engaged and vibrant workplace together.
