Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a Welsh-speaking ALN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Torfaen. The role starts in September 2026 and offers long-term, full-time, part-time or supply placements with holiday pay and CPD training.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups, using Welsh where required, and assist teachers with activities and routines. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Welsh, have experience with children or young people, and hold a patient, adaptable approach with strong

Qualifications

• Fluent Welsh speaker is essential.
• Experience working with children or young people is essential.
• ALN/SEND experience is desirable.
• Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ALN.
• Support pupils through the medium of Welsh where required.
• Assist teachers with learning activities and classroom routines.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
• Support pupils to access learning and reach their individual goals.
