Job summary

Kauai, in partnership with Virgin Active, seeks a Duty Manager to lead the café’s daily operations, ensuring top-notch food quality, service and brand compliance. You will manage a team, plan labour, control stock and deliver a superior member experience within the club environment.

You will drive performance, develop your team and maintain high standards across front-of-house and back-of-house areas.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification is required.
• Experience in food service, hospitality or retail management.
• Proven leadership and people development experience.
• Strong operational and commercial awareness including labour, stock and budgets.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen compliance.
• Proficient with operational systems and MS Office.
• Flexible approach to hours (mornings/evenings/weekends/bank holidays).

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of the café, ensuring exceptional customer service and food quality.
• Recruit, coach and develop a high-performing team and foster a positive culture.
• Manage rotas, payroll, recruitment, onboarding and performance.
• Drive commercial performance through labour planning, stock control and cost management.
• Oversee ordering, deliveries, inventory and supplier relationships.
• Champion food safety, allergen management, hygiene and compliance.
• Deliver excellent customer experiences and handle escalated queries.
• Maintain presentation standards and ensure a welcoming café environment.
• Collaborate with Virgin Active club management to support a seamless member experience.
