Job summary

Citizens Advice Southwark is seeking a welfare benefits caseworker to provide outreach advice in hospitals across South East London and from our main offices in Peckham and Walworth. The role involves undertaking casework to help clients access welfare entitlements and other financial support.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in advice work, deep knowledge of welfare benefits, and a commitment to equal opportunities within the Citizens Advice framework.

Qualifications

• At least one year’s full-time (or part-time equivalent) paid or unpaid recent experience of advice work.
• In-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including disability and sickness.
• Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice, including Equal Opportunities policies.

To Be Successful You Will Need

• At least one year’s full time (or part time equivalent) paid or unpaid recent experience of advice work. This should include advising and undertaking casework on complex cases in social welfare law.
• Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including those related to disability and sickness.
• An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including Equal Opportunities policies.
