Job summary

Citizens Advice Southwark is recruiting a Welfare Benefits Caseworker to help clients access welfare benefits and other financial support. The role is office-based in Southwark with a permanent contract and a 35-hour work week.

Candidate should have at least one year of paid or unpaid experience in advice work and strong knowledge of welfare benefits, including disability-related entitlements. A commitment to equal opportunities and Citizens Advice principles is essential.

About the role

Citizens Advice Southwark provides outreach advice service in hospitals across South East London as well as from our main offices in Peckham and Walworth. We are seeking to recruit a welfare benefits caseworker to undertake casework assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help.

To be successful you will need:

  • At least one year’s full time (or part time equivalent) paid or unpaid recent experience of advice work. This should include advising and undertaking casework on complex cases in social welfare law.
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits including those related to disability and sickness.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including Equal Opportunities policies.
