Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Welder to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in the Bristol area. The hands-on role focuses on MIG welding and sheet metal fabrication, working from engineering drawings and taking parts through the full fabrication process.

You will fabricate from 1mm to 10mm sheet steel, operate guillotines and press brakes, and perform plasma/flame cutting as needed in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Welder or Fabricator Welder.
• Strong MIG welding and sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and follow specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Background in general engineering/manufacturing.
• CNC machinery experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• MIG welding sheet metal and steel sections.
• Measuring, cutting, folding, fitting and fabricating metal components.
• Fabrication of sheet steel and sections 1mm–10mm thick.
• Operating fabrication machinery including guillotines and press brakes.
• Manual cutting using plasma and flame-cutting methods.
• Modifying, repairing and fabricating replacement metal components as required.
• Using handheld and powered tools to complete fabrication activities.
• Ensuring all work is completed to high quality and safety standards.

Job description

An established and growing engineering and manufacturing business in the Bristol area is looking to recruit an experienced Welder to join its skilled workshop team. This is a hands-on position working on a variety of sheet metal fabrication projects, supporting the production of high-quality fabricated components and assemblies.

This role would suit a Welder with strong MIG welding and fabrication experience who enjoys working from engineering drawings and taking projects through the full fabrication process.

Key Responsibilities

• MIG welding sheet metal and steel sections.
• Measuring, cutting, folding, fitting, and fabricating metal components.
• Fabrication of sheet steel and sections ranging from 1mm to 10mm thickness.
• Operating fabrication machinery including guillotines and press brakes.
• Carrying out manual cutting using plasma and flame-cutting methods.
• Modifying, repairing, and fabricating replacement metal components when required.
• Using a variety of handheld and powered tools to complete fabrication activities.
• Ensuring all work is completed to high quality and safety standards.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a Welder or Fabricator Welder position.
• Strong sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Proven MIG welding skills.
• Ability to accurately read measurements and work to specifications.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• General engineering or manufacturing background.
• CNC machine operation experience would be advantageous.
