Job summary

Career Choices Dewis Gyrfa Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. You will work on end-to-end metal fabrication projects, taking jobs from drawings through fabrication, welding, finishing and inspection to the completed product.

The role emphasizes variety, responsibility and delivering high-quality finished work in a long-established engineering workshop. ISO 9001 and BS EN 1090 familiarity is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Practical welding and fabrication experience is required.
• Strong MIG welding capability.
• Experience fabricating sheet and/or section material.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• NVQ/City & Guilds welding/fabrication qualification would be useful.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specifications to prepare components.
• Cut, prepare, shape and assemble sheet and section material.
• Carry out MIG welding across various jobs and thicknesses.
• Perform TIG welding where required.
• Check preparation, fit-up and alignment before welding.
• Operate fabrication equipment and workshop machinery.
• Grind, linish, polish and deburr finished work.
• Measure components against dimensions and tolerances.
• Take responsibility for jobs from prep to finished product.
• Maintain accurate job and material records.
• Follow established quality and safety procedures.

Welder Fabricator | Bespoke Engineering Work Trowbridge, Wiltshire £13.50 to £16.50 per hour, depending on experience Full Time, Permanent, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday If you are a Welder Fabricator who enjoys actually fabricating rather than spending every day repeating one production weld, this is an opportunity worth considering.

Our client is a long-established Wiltshire engineering business specialising in bespoke sheet metal and section fabrication.

You will be trusted to take individual jobs from technical drawings and raw material through fabrication, welding, finishing and inspection to the completed product.

That means variety, responsibility and the satisfaction of seeing what you have made from beginning to end.

The company has been operating for more than 60 years and combines experienced people with a modern, well-equipped fabrication workshop.

It produces components and assemblies for customers across a diverse range of industries and works to recognised quality and structural steel standards.

About the Opportunity Our client provides an end-to-end metal fabrication service, working on everything from individual components to larger fabricated assemblies.

The workshop covers a broad range of fabrication processes, so this is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys making things, solving practical fabrication challenges and producing a finished job to a high standard.

Quality is important here.

Finished work is measured, inspected and checked against drawings and customer specifications rather than simply being pushed through production.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Working accurately from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Cutting, preparing, shaping and assembling sheet and section material.
• Carrying out MIG welding across different jobs and material thicknesses.
• TIG welding where required.
• Checking preparation, fit-up and alignment before welding.
• Operating fabrication equipment and normal workshop machinery.
• Grinding, linishing, polishing and deburring completed work.
• Measuring completed components against specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Correcting fabrication or weld defects where necessary.
• Taking responsibility for jobs from preparation through to completed product.
• Maintaining appropriate job and material records.
• Working in accordance with established quality and safety procedures.

What You'll Need:

• Previous practical welding and fabrication experience.
• Strong MIG welding capability.
• Experience fabricating sheet and/or section material.
• Competence using standard fabrication tools and workshop equipment.
• Experience measuring and checking completed fabricated work.
• NVQ, City and Guilds or an equivalent welding / fabrication qualification would be useful, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• TIG welding experience would be an advantage.
