Job summary

Randstad Inhouse Services is hiring an experienced Aluminium Welder for a temporary ongoing role at Hitachi Rail, Arlington Fleet Works in Eastleigh. You will perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminium, following WPS and SOPs and conducting pre- and post-weld checks to ensure quality.

The role requires flexibility for shifts, the ability to work unsupervised, and the capacity to train colleagues while contributing to Kaizen and 5S improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to perform coded welding to TIG/MIG standards on aluminium.
• Capable of working unsupervised and making decisive decisions.
• High dexterity with good eyesight and accuracy.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including shifts.
• Ability to train colleagues and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks including coded welding on aluminium.
• Carry out pre- and post-weld inspections and ensure weld quality.
• Prepare weld surfaces and manage equipment/consumables; complete weld records.
• Design and deliver training to colleagues; deputise for Team Leader when needed.
• Lead problem-solving activities; participate in Kaizen and 5S improvements.
• Adhere to Health, Safety; Environment procedures and maintain housekeeping standards.

Days £23.44 & Afternoon £28.13 per hour

Umbrella

Days £31.13 & Afternoon £37.37 per hour

Shifts:

Days: 6.30 am - 3.00pm (Mon - Thur) & 6.30 am - 12.00 (Friday)

Backs: 3.00 pm - 11.30pm Mon - Thur & 12.00 pm - 5.30pm (Friday)

Key Responsibilities

• Perform various welding and fabrication tasks, including coded welding, in accordance with WPS, SOPs, and associated documents.
• Carry out pre- and post-weld inspections, ensuring full accountability for weld quality and correcting issues to the required standard.
• Prepare weld surfaces, control weld equipment/consumables, and complete all necessary weld records.
• Support the team by designing and delivering training to colleagues, sharing knowledge, and deputising for the Team Leader when required.
• Lead problem-solving activities, minimise waste, and participate in Kaizen and 5S improvement activities.
• Adhere to Health, Safety; Environment procedures, ensure correct extraction is used, and maintain high standards of housekeeping.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Proven ability to perform coded welding to relevant standards in TIG or MIG with Aluminium.
• Ability to work unsupervised and make decisive, informed decisions.
• High level of accuracy, excellent dexterity, and good eyesight.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including shift work.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver high-standard training to colleagues
