Job summary

Morson Group is seeking experienced Aluminium Welders to join the Central Line Improvement Programme at Acton Railway Engineering Works. The role involves MIG, TIG and Stick welding of aluminium components for rail vehicles on a long-term project based in Acton REW.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years welding experience, proven aluminium welding ability, and qualifications. A positive attitude and willingness to learn will be valued as training is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years welding experience.
• Proven aluminium welding experience (essential).
• Experience welding on rail or automotive vehicles is highly desirable.
• Ability to MIG, TIG and Stick weld is essential.
• Experience with burning processes including oxy-acetylene burning and plasma profile burning.
• Fabrication experience within a heavy engineering environment.
• Welding apprenticeship or recognised welding qualifications.
• BS EN ISO 9606 welder coding (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Join the Central Line Improvement Programme at Acton REW.
• Weld aluminium components for rail vehicles using MIG, TIG and Stick processes.
• Operate burning equipment for oxy-acetylene and plasma profile burning.
• Support fabrication activities in a heavy engineering setting.

Job description

Welder ( Aluminium)

Location: Acton Railway Engineering Works (Acton REW)

Shift: Days – Monday – Thursday 7am – 15.00pm, Friday 7am – 12 noon. Project Duration: Long-term opportunity with work secured until at least 2030

Pay Rates: Umbrella - £40.54 / over time £50.76; PAYE - £29.93 / over time £37.41

We are recruiting for experienced Aluminium Welders, who have the ability to MIG, TIG and Stick weld, to join the Central Line Improvement Programme at Acton Railway Engineering Works. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major long-term rail project with work guaranteed for several years.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years welding experience
• Proven aluminium welding experience (essential)
• Experience welding on rail vehicles ideally or automotive vehicles is highly desirable
• Ability to MIG, TIG and Stick weld - essential
• Experience with burning processes, including:
  • Oxy-acetylene burning
  • Plasma profile burning
• Fabrication experience within a heavy engineering environment
• Welding apprenticeship or recognised welding qualifications
• BS EN ISO 9606 welder coding (or equivalent) preferred
  • Candidates who require coding or re-coding will be considered, subject to assessment
• A positive attitude with a willingness to learn, as additional training will be provided
