Job summary

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames Libraries are seeking a Weekend Library Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service, process loans and returns, and help visitors access resources across Richmond Libraries.

The role requires weekend shifts (Saturday 9:30–16:00 or Sunday 13:00–17:00/13:15–17:15) and involves supporting events and maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced, service-focused environments.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.
• Proven problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service focus and professional resilience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service at the library desk.
• Issue and return books and other resources to users.
• Assist customers with public computers and e-resources.
• Support events and activities within the library.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe environment for all visitors.
