Job summary

18 Week Support is seeking a General Scrub Nurse for weekend sessions with a trusted NHS Trust in the South West. The role supports busy general surgery services within a well-led theatre and recovery team, offering flexible, patient-centered care in a structured environment.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues, maintaining sterile technique and safety standards while contributing to efficient preoperative and intraoperative care during weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
• Minimum 6 months surgical experience in the last 12 months.
• Proven NHS experience.
• Experience in surgical wards or theatre preferred.
• Strong clinical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms for scheduled procedures.
• Ensure instruments, equipment and supplies are sterile and available.
• Verify patient identity, procedure details, consent and site.
• Participate in surgical safety checklists and team briefings.
• Anticipate equipment needs based on the planned procedure.
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation and aseptic technique.
