Job summary

18 Week Support is recruiting a Gynaecology Outpatient HCA for weekend sessions to support an NHS Trust in the Midlands area. The role involves patient observation, assisting with outpatient procedures, and maintaining clinical areas in a busy outpatient clinic.

You will work alongside theatre and recovery teams in a patient‑focused environment, benefiting from flexible additional sessions and NHS‑aligned care standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of current surgical setting experience within the last 12 months.
• Proven NHS experience.
• Experience in clinics or theatre settings desirable.

Responsibilities

• Record and monitor patient observations: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturations, height and weight.
• Assist clinicians during outpatient procedures (colposcopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, cervical procedures, coil insertions/removals).
• Prepare clinical areas and equipment before clinics.
• Clean and restock treatment rooms and clinical areas.
• Assist with specimen collection, labelling and transportation as required.
• Report changes in patient condition to a registered nurse immediately.

Are you a Gynaecology Outpatient HCA with experience in post‑anaesthetic or perioperative care, looking for additional weekend work? Here at 18 Week Support, we have an exciting opportunity to support a well‑established NHS Trust in the Midlands area within a busy Outpatient Clinic.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced theatre and recovery teams in a well‑supported, patient‑focused environment while benefiting from flexible additional sessions.

Clinical Duties

• Record and monitor patient observations, including:
  • Blood pressure
  • Pulse
  • Temperature
  • Respiratory rate
  • Oxygen saturations
  • Height and weight
• Assist clinicians during outpatient procedures such as:
  • Colposcopy
  • Hysteroscopy
  • Endometrial biopsy
  • Cervical procedures
  • Coil (IUD/IUS) insertion and removal
• Prepare clinical areas and equipment before clinics.
• Clean and restock treatment rooms and clinical areas.
• Assist with specimen collection, labelling and transportation in line with policy.
• Report changes in patient condition to a registered nurse immediately.

Desirable Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
• Qualification in Healthcare Support Work.

Essential Experience

• Current experience working within a surgical setting for a minimum of 6 months within the last 12 months.
• Proven NHS experience.
• Experience working within clinics or theatre environments is desirable.
• Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
