Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Weekend Cook for Carlisle City Centre. You will lead weekend kitchen operations, preparing meals for about 20 residents and staff in a manageable, independent role. The position offers 12 hours weekly with shifts from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, Saturdays and Sundays, at £13.01 per hour.

Training in food safety is provided if needed. Ideal candidates are experienced cooks or chefs who enjoy home-style food and working independently, with a flexible start time around the service

• A passion for preparing good food and serving residents.
• Ability to work independently and manage the kitchen.

Looking for regular weekend work that fits around your other commitments?

Sodexo is looking for a Weekend Cook to join our team at a National Probation Service Approved Premises in Carlisle City Centre.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Cook, Chef or someone with a passion for preparing good food who is looking for regular weekend hours alongside other commitments.

You'll be cooking for approximately 20 guests, making this a manageable kitchen environment where you can take pride in the food you prepare.

What you'll be doing

You'll take charge of the kitchen during your weekend shifts, preparing and serving meals for residents and staff.

Saturday:

• Prepare and serve brunch
• Prepare food for approximately 20 guests
• Saturday meal service is at 4:30pm
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and running smoothly

Sunday:

• Prepare and serve a traditional roast dinner
• Prepare and serve a pudding
• Sunday meal service is at 4:30pm
• You'll have flexibility around your start time to allow you to prepare everything for service

You'll be working independently in the kitchen, but you won't be responsible for the whole site. There are other members of staff on site, including cleaners, who support the wider operation.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience as a Cook, Chef or within a catering environment
• Enjoys preparing fresh, home-style food
• Is confident working independently
• Can organise their own workload and manage the kitchen
• Takes pride in preparing and serving good-quality meals
• Understands the importance of food hygiene and safe working practices

Don't have a formal food safety qualification? That's okay. We can provide the necessary training to help you succeed in the role.

We're more interested in finding someone with good cooking skills, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for food.

The hours

12 hours per week

Saturday & Sunday

12:00pm – 6:00pm

£13.01 per hour

We're also able to offer some flexibility around your start time, provided you're available for the required meal service.
