Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Water Quality Case Scientist in Durrington (Worthing) with hybrid working (2 days in the office). The role involves ownership of drinking water quality customer cases and acting as the SME.

Hybrid schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days from home, with training on site as needed. You will lead investigations, coordinate sample collection, keep customers informed, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve cases while aiming for KPI targets and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in a Scientific, Environmental or Engineering discipline.
• Willing to pursue Chartered Status with company support.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ideally some customer service experience (training will be provided).
• Experience in water science is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Leading investigations including arranging water sample collection and investigations.
• Keeping customers updated with the progress of their case via email, telephone and letter.
• Liaising with other internal departments to move forward investigations.
• Champion continuous improvement in the team.
• Escalate queries to ensure closure of the case.
• Taking full ownership of your case load and ensuring full resolution.
• Work to KPIs in regard to case management.
