Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Water Operations Analyst to support the safe operation of our clean water network across South London. You will work with Systems Optimisation Engineers, Leakage teams and colleagues to maintain reliable water supplies, manage pressure and respond to network issues.

This fixed-term contract, up to 1 year, is office-based at South London (9am–5pm or 8am–4pm, Mon–Fri). A technical degree and a proactive, data‑driven mindset are valued, with some travel around the Thames

Qualifications

• A degree in a technical discipline such as engineering or science would be advantageous, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational and performance data.
• Good communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.
• A proactive approach and genuine willingness to learn and develop a long-term career in the water industry.

Responsibilities

• Investigating pressure issues, customer complaints and network alarms, using data to understand problems and identify solutions.
• Supporting planned network isolations and optimisation projects.
• Assisting during unplanned and emergency events to minimise disruption to customers.
• Helping investigate longer-term network issues, including low pressure, low flows, resilience and network integrity.
• Making sure network activities follow the correct operational and risk-management procedures.
