Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Water Team across the North/Midlands offices (Birmingham, Chesterfield, Leeds, Manchester) with a flexible hybrid working model. You will lead mechanical design for wastewater and water treatment projects, performing site surveys, pump selections, and piping layouts.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, support bids, and deliver client reports and drawings to design standards, working with major water clients such as Severn Trent,

Qualifications

• Experience in the design of water and wastewater engineering deliverables with multi-disciplinary knowledge.
• BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with experience in water and wastewater treatment.
• Chartered (or near Chartered) Member of a relevant Professional Institution.
• Experience within the water sector working for a consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage all aspects of mechanical design in wastewater and water infrastructure projects.
• Carry out site surveys and liaise with clients, contractors & suppliers.
• Perform headloss calculations and pumping system analyses; pump selection.
• Designs of screens, grit removal, penstocks and valves, etc.; specify equipment.
• Collaborate with other discipline teams to deliver high-quality solutions and support bids.
