Job summary

AECOM in Scotland is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to join our Water Team in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth or Inverness. You will lead client-focused design projects, guide multidisciplinary teams and ensure delivery within scope, time and budget.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of civil water infrastructure, active pursuit of professional accreditation, and a safety-first mindset. We offer a flexible hybrid working model, access to AECOM University, and opportunities to work on

Qualifications

• Education: BEng Civil Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Professional accreditation with a relevant body (ICE, CIWEM, etc.) or actively pursuing it.
• Experience in the water or wastewater industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Manage design scope within budget and programme constraints.
• Identify resourcing needs and secure allocation with relevant team leaders.
• Demonstrate strong technical understanding and stay updated with industry practices.
• Lead the quality assurance process for project deliverables to meet standards.
• Mentor junior staff and foster professional growth.
• Engage with stakeholders including clients, team members and external partners.
• Embed health and safety culture across the area of responsibility.
