Job summary

AECOM in Manchester is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our growing Water team. You will work on high-profile water projects for UK clients and international opportunities, contributing to feasibility, design, and execution of water and wastewater schemes.

The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with development opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to multi-disciplinary teams across the UK and abroad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience within the water sector working for a consultancy.
• Experience of undertaking engineering assessments, options appraisals, engineering calculations or economic appraisal.
• Working towards chartership or incorporated status with ICE/CIWEM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, hydraulic modellers and specialists to deliver impactful water solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and develop practical, buildable potable and wastewater designs.
• Contribute to design stages from feasibility to detailed design and prepare reports/specifications.
• Perform numerical analyses using software to evaluate water systems.
• Design water infrastructure including treatment plants, pump systems and pipe networks with safety in mind.
• Gain on-site experience through visits and project implementation.
