Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; master's degree is advantageous.
• Water-related modules or relevant work experience is a plus.
• Enthusiastic, hard-working and technically proficient with strong research skills.
• Good written and verbal communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Structure and prioritise work through collaboration with teams.
• Ability to work independently with initiative and consider wider commercial implications.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis using specialist software for dams and reservoirs.
• Keep up-to-date with regulatory legislation affecting design work.
• Carry out research and apply knowledge to new situations and improvements.
• Undertake feasibility studies evaluating technical performance, H&S, cost, and environment.
• Prepare designs, drawings, specifications and contracts.
• Write clear reports and present to colleagues, clients and regulators.
• Join site visits to support dam inspections and understand asset performance.
• Explore locations for new reservoirs to support long-term resilience.
• Design eight dams as part of the Loch Kemp pumped storage scheme.
• Upgrade aging dams to maintain safety and performance.
• Assist with statutory inspections, upgrades, and emergency planning under Reservoirs Act 1975.
• Support colleagues in the USA with risk assessment of dams portfolio.
