Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Design Manager to strengthen the Southern Division, with flexible working options. You will lead design delivery for water and wastewater projects, coordinating engineers, planners, suppliers and construction teams to ensure safe, buildable and cost-effective outcomes.

Essentially, you will drive scope definition, assurance, risk management and governance while promoting sustainable, low-carbon design solutions across complex programmes.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in engineering or equivalent professional standing.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership advantageous.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams in water, wastewater, infrastructure or design-build environments.
• Strong understanding of CDM, construction health and safety, technical assurance and project governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design delivery from scope definition through assurance, issue resolution and handover.
• Ensure all design work meets health and safety, quality, technical, environmental, sustainability and governance requirements.
• Manage design plans, deliverables schedules, decision logs, risk registers and monthly progress reporting.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, delivery, commercial, planning, supplier and construction functions.
• Drive efficient, value-led and low-carbon design solutions while maintaining quality and programme commitments.
• Control design change, manage interfaces, provide early warnings and lead recovery actions where needed.
• Represent MWH Treatment professionally with clients, partners and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical support during construction, assembly and commissioning where required.
