Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician for Rye Meads STW, covering 11 catchment sites. The role focuses on installation, commissioning, maintenance and repairs of water assets, SCADA and PLC systems, with supervision of contractors as needed.

You will provide specialist technical advice, support apprentices and join a safety‑conscious, collaborative team.

Qualifications

Need HNC or NVQ3 in instrumentation, control and automation.
18th Edition (BS7671) qualification preferred.
Desirable knowledge of Wonderware and ClearSCADA.
Knowledge and experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley) including programming.
Ability to read fault-find from circuit diagrams and understand inverter drives.
Experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
Problem solver with proactive approach and good communication.
Health and safety awareness; team player; able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Install, commission, maintain and repair water production assets including level instrumentation, flow meters and turbidity monitors.
Work with SCADA systems, PLCs and Process control networks.
Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers as needed.
Provide specialist technical advice and training support for technical apprentices.
