Job summary

Thames Water is seeking an Instrument Control & Automation Technician to join the team at Bishops Stortford STW. The role covers installation, commissioning and maintenance of water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters and turbidity monitors, with exposure to SCADA and PLCs.

You will interpret circuit diagrams, fault-find and program Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley PLCs, and assist apprentices with training. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC or NVQ3 in instrumentation, control and automation.
• 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification desirable.
• Practical understanding of plant and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain and repair water production assets.
• Work with SCADA systems, PLCs and process control networks.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Provide technical training and support to apprentices.
